Who we are
Snow Goose Web Design is a web design business based in Delta, British Columbia, run by Jesse J. Miller. In this policy, "we" means Snow Goose Web Design and "you" means anyone who visits our website, contacts us or hires us.
Our privacy officer is Jesse J. Miller. For questions, requests or complaints about your personal information, email snowgooseweb@gmail.com. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
What we collect
| Where | What we collect |
|---|---|
| Quote form | Your name, business name, phone, email, the package you're interested in and what your business does |
| Website chat | Your name, email, mobile number if you give one, your messages and whether you asked for text replies |
| WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger | The messages you send us. Meta's business AI may answer first, using rules we set |
| When you hire us | Contact and billing details; the photos, logos and text you give us; and access to the accounts you invite us into, such as your domain, hosting, GitHub, Google Business Profile and social media |
| Every visit | Your IP address and browser details. Our hosting company (Cloudflare) processes them to deliver pages and block attacks. Google Fonts (on every page), Mixkit (the videos on our package pages) and Wix (the quote form and its images) also receive your IP address when a page loads their files |
We collect only what we need for the purposes below. We don't buy contact lists. Card details go straight to the payment company: we never see or store them.
How we use it
- To answer your questions and send you a quote
- To do the work you hire us for, and to bill you for it
- To send project updates, invoices and reminders
- To keep the business and tax records the law requires
When you send us the quote form, a chat message or a direct message, you agree to us using your information for these purposes. We don't sell or rent personal information. We only send you marketing emails if you've said yes, and every one has a way to stop them.
Who we share it with
We use a few outside services to run the business. Each gets only what it needs to do its job.
| Service | What it does for us |
|---|---|
| Wix | Stores quote requests, website chats and our contact list, and delivers the quote form and its images |
| Cloudflare | Hosts our website and runs the chat box |
| Runs our business email (Gmail), and may provide website analytics (Google Analytics) and ads | |
| Meta | Runs WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and the business AI that answers messages, and may measure our ads (Meta Pixel) |
| Google Fonts and Mixkit | Deliver the fonts on our pages and the videos on our package pages. They receive your IP address when a page loads |
| Twilio | Sends text replies, only if you ask for them |
| Stripe or Square | Takes card payments when you hire us |
These services may store information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it's there, the laws of that country apply, and its courts and authorities may be able to access it.
We also share information when the law requires it, such as a court order.
Cookies, analytics and ads
Our site uses your browser's storage for:
- a short-lived visitor pass from Wix, so the quote form and chat box work
- your chat conversation, kept for 30 days so you can pick up where you left off
- your light or dark mode choice on the sample sites on our work page
We may also use analytics and advertising tools, such as Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel, to see how visitors use our site and to measure and show our ads. These tools use cookies and may collect your IP address, device and browser details and the pages you visit. They don't give us your name.
You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on and change how ads are shown to you in your Google and Meta ad settings. Clearing your browser data removes everything our site has stored.
How long we keep it
- If you contact us but don't hire us: we delete your quote request and chats 2 years after your last contact with us. Copies in our Wix Inbox (chats) and our Gmail (emails) are cleared by hand once a year, so they can last up to about 3 years. If you ask us to delete them sooner, we will.
- If you hire us: we keep project and billing records for 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as the Canada Revenue Agency requires for business records.
- If we use your information to make a decision about you: we keep it at least one year afterward, so you have time to ask to see it.
Your rights
- See it. Ask what personal information we hold about you, how we've used it and who we've shared it with. We answer within 30 business days, free of charge.
- Fix it. Ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
- Change your mind. Withdraw your consent at any time, for example to stop text replies or have your quote request deleted. If that means we can't finish work you've hired us for, we'll tell you first.
- Complain. Email us first. If you're not satisfied, contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
To make a request, email snowgooseweb@gmail.com.
Security, breaches and changes
- Security: our accounts use strong passwords and two-step sign-in, and only the owner can access them. We work in your accounts as an invited helper, and you can remove us at any time.
- If something goes wrong: if a breach puts you at real risk of harm, we'll tell you as soon as we can and explain what to do. We may also report it to the Privacy Commissioner.
- Changes: if we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new date.
